The Program

We are looking for passionate and skilled college students who have just completed their junior or senior year from all concentrations. Each session will include a one-week orientation prior to the first day of ministry.

Qualified applicants must be eighteen years of age or older, self-motivated and willing to engage with others. Candidates must have good organizational and communication skills and the maturity to follow through on all work projects. Each candidate must be teachable, an initiator, a decision-maker and an advocate for families in poverty.

The process involves submission of a written application, a short video or written faith statement, an interview with CSM executive leadership and your direct supervisor, and a signed release form.

Housing needs are considered on a case-by-case basis. Interns are responsible for their own food and toiletries. Interns must be able to provide their own transportation to Birmingham and are responsible for their own transportation needs while here. (Summer interns may be required to transport campers from CSM Ministry Center to project locations.)

CSM Internships

CSM offers a unique opportunity to be a change agent in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama, an epicenter for historical racial and economic equity issues. As a hub for serving vulnerable urban populations in partnership with many local churches, NGOs and municipalities, CSM is offering college or post-graduate student internships in the areas of volunteer group leadership, general admin, community development, graphics/communications/social media, nutrition/dietetics, social work, program development/outreach, horticulture and construction/carpentry. These for-credit positions are un-paid, but as a non-profit ministry, we do allow our interns to raise support or find a sponsor. Please contact Michael Bowen,
